Naughty but nice

Nice use of guitar with electronics. Really interesting intro and the weird sax? is a good addition.
The amen style of beats/breaks is a little overused i feel, but it works well in this trk as they are nicely chopped and well executed.
Dischordant feel in places, which makes me feel a little uneasy, but in a good way.
Perhaps a little too afx in parts, but still really enjoyed it.

yo kingb.
yeh, i try to avoid the amen drums as much as possible, dunno why i chose em here. as for to afxee, maybe the choice of synth when the glitched vox come in and also the glitched vox themselves, wasn't intentionally goin for an aphex sound tho. glad u enjoyed it tho:)

LOUD!!!

hehehe, tis a loud trk man, too loud for my brittle ears:) *turns vol in phones down, starts again....
Well, this is a well made, but ultimately cheesy dance tune for my ears. It has all the right sounds, in all the right places for the genre and you've done a bang up job on the arrangement but it just aint my cup of tea, so it gets 8/10 from me.

Flashburn responds:

hmm yes I know dance/trance isnt for everyone, thanks for the review KB!

Quality

Really good sound to this, starts like BOC, then the drums drop and you reaslise it's going somewhere else. Nice fx and good use of the timing to keep a sense of guessing throughout. Nice simple intertwining melodies and fx that grow well throughout. Great production on this one, would have liked to have heard a real mental breakdown/bridge section, stepping up into double time perhaps, and a little more drum messing. As it is, it builds and evolves nicely and keeps the interest up. Lowering the bitrate has not affected the quality of the tune, and if this is a low bitrate then your .wav files must sound fucking sweet!:)
Good shit man, and thanks for reviewing my tunes too, appreciate it.

Splagawaga responds:

thanks for the review kb, interesting that u mention a bridge / breakdown and the double time. initially the endsection where slightly more tweaks came through lead into more of the tune and distorted bassline but i was pushed for time so i lopped it off and went out. then ofc my computer broke and i lost the save file.

as for the double time. i dont know why i but i didnt even think of that! it would have been really nice to get it charging into some of your own style speedglitch. then again perhaps i did think of it and the 5/4 scared me off.

thanks again

nice

Cool breaks and interesting chopping/scratch fx. Solid drums, although i prefer a little more high end, but they bang nicely. I would have liked to have heard the main kind of acidy sound filter and progress more throughout the trk.
Good stuff.

Splagawaga responds:

thanks for reviewing once again, i agree with u about the acid line. it should have been a mainstay for the tune, but i really struggled once i hit the wall with this one. i only spent a very short time on it. then at the second sitting i added the acid line that comes in towards the second section. after that i immediately got disolutioned and gave up.

Good

Really nice ambient guitar piece. I'm not familiar with the game music, but as it's a cover it loses points on originality from me.
I really like the mood and style though, definately envelopes the listener.
Nice stuff.

WinTang responds:

Thanks!
Originality is relative of course, I think you can be just as original when you rearrange something rather than composing something totally new, but I can see where you're coming from. Glad you liked mood and style, exactly the things I was focusing on.
I get the feeling that you are that judge we are currently waiting for... :)

Good stuff.

Very nice pad intro, i could almost quite happily listen to that itself, floating around in my phones. The trk breaks in well with the drums and squelchy(ish) bassline. The drums might have a little too much high end EQ on them though. It's a very loud trk volume wise, not sure whether the levels are peaking or not, but it could do with being turned down a notch or two in my opinion, I can normally comfortably listen to music through my phones at about 3/4 my main volume and I had to turn this trk down to under half volume to stop my head from exploding:) Nice use of layers to build a good arrangement, but perhaps a little more development with the drums would be nice, a prominent bridge section too. I like the backing fx too, the swirling/watery noise, but i think it does go on for too long throughout the trk and kinda gets in the way a little, I would think about having it in for less time, maybe just the first part of the trk, to free up the mix later on for development. I like the simple string melody and think it works very effectively as a main focal point.
Overall I think it's a good trk with some nice ideas but not enough variance.

whoa, you ever heard of paragraphs? lol. anyways nice one for reviewing my tune,a very honest review with some constructive criticism, i now look at this in a different light knowing about the MAC. this is a comprehensive review. I've never had a problem with the volume myself and ive played this on headphones full volume and it hasnt' affected me. Its all that ambient music you make its softened your ears lol.

i didnt really have much direction to go with this track seing as i just made it without any intention as to where it was going, and you may have noticed in some of my other songs that if i deviate from the start i go somehwere totally different and struggle to get bk.

thanks again for a cracking review. and your honesty too, it does peck head when you get OMG THIS IS THE 1337.

Space, The Final Frontier....

....there's nothing wrong with the volume on this man, it's actually quite loud:) I always like to hear a bit of space style ambience. The beat dropping was spot on. Some good glitchyness and messing. Interesting and fun to listen to. Like the voices as well, nice touch.

dj-padman1 responds:

Gee, thanks KB! Glad to hear you got some joy from it. It hasn't been too warmly regarded here, maybe I need to hit them with the 8 minute extended dub version. Stay cool man.

Moody.

Quality track, good bit of glitch and ambience, with dark undertones and distorted beats. I find it funny that you chose to call an ambient trk cocaine though:)

StrangeEncounters responds:

This was supposed to go under miscellaneous. :) Thanks for the review anyways.

She fed you a whole Car!!!:)

liked this right from the get go. Great glitch. Nice use of ambient pads/sounds to give a contrast in sound. The little vocal snippets are a good touch, I always like to hear little bits like that. The trk even loops smoothly on here so you can keep on listening for as long as u want:) My only beef with the trk is that the pad that comes in towards the middle of the trk just fades a little crudely. It might have been nicer to extend the length of the pad and then ended it with tailing off release/decay and not fading? who knows, it's a small complaint:)
Really liked this, big fat 5 for you.

LJCoffee responds:

You know I respect you and love your work so the high scores mean a lot coming from you!

Lush start to the proceedings, nice to hear some guitars mixed with electronic on this site for a change. Good solid beat drops, almost industrial in feel. The track builds quickly and well, but does seem to get a little overloaded with sound. I would have liked to hear it take more time and be a bit more subtle in the addition of parts. It certainly is quite hectic, with some lovely touches and interesting production. I think you could really drag the start out and slow build the sounds, dropping in one or two every 8 bars or so. It almost sounds like it peaks too soon.
Again, a really interesting piece that is unlike anything i've heard on this site before, really good stuff.

JamesMillen responds:

Thank you.

I get really impatient when writing on a computer, I find it hard to draw things out. Plus I'm paranoid about getting dragged into the all to easy repetitiveness that so many computer music makers fall foul of.
