Hi.

This trk has an interesting feel right from the get go, the kind-of jagged nature of the beats crossed with the more chilled out synths works well. I would have perhaps liked to have heard more of a build up with the intro, but that's just my preference and the track builds nicely all the way through with what feels like a very natural progression.
I can't really put my finger on it, but there's something about this trk that doesnt sit well in my ears, perhaps it's the unsettled feeling it conjoures in my mind with the slightly erratic nature of the mix when i'm trying to chill-out to the synths, it's hard to place.
Regardless of that, it's a very good track and a throughrally enjoyable listen, shame about the fade end though.
Good stuff man.

dj-padman1 responds:

thanks for the review KB.
Well, the thing that probably doesn't sit well is that its horribly overcompressed. I'm so tired to fighting this 'loudness war'.
Well, back to the drawing board.

Good Stuff

It starts like some kinda rpg big epic game, nice breaks into bell-like simple hits with a half break and nice bass-sound. Quite a trebley mix so far, hoping for a big bass end. The beats are good ol dnb through and through, the little glitchy bell-like sounds work really well, the stabby synths i'm not so sure about, sound a little cheap compared to the rest of the mix.
It's a very competent peice of DnB that i think would benefit from some EQ mastering to really bring out the frequencies. Also I really don't like piano in dnb music:D SOme of the sounds are a little techy and dont belong in DnB in my ears, but I see this being used in many a flash.
It's really well arranged and thought out and a good listen all the way through, constantly evolving.
4/5

Thanks for the review, man! Your opinion means a lot to me. :)

I tend to break a lot of rules when dealing with genres, sometimes it's a really bad habit though. :P I really like acoustic instruments along with electronic ones, that's all. :)

Thanks again!

Now I Know My ABC......

....kinda.

I enjoyed that track, good inventive stuff and nice sound mangling.
I would have liked the trk to go on and develop more, but it was cool nonetheless.
Gets my 5

Laiderdaiv responds:

I got my old files back and I'm working more on it. Spending time on sorting all my crazy wiring and automation out right now to work easier. Thanks for the 5!

Chips

I'm a sucker for 8-Bit/Chip Tunes.
Really enjoyed this, great stuff.
You could quite easily add some tasty breaks over the top of this tune and be onto a winner in my ears.

Maindrian responds:

Cheers. By all means, check out the guitar version. I might try doing a version with a beat as well. It'd lend itself quite well to a mental dance track.

Incase that never happens, remember that I'm quite open to people re-mixing my stuff. ;)

Misc indeed:...

Hi there. Thought it was really about time I returned the reviews.
This trk has loads of nice ideas in it, and I've always liked guitar mixed with electronics, especially acoustic.
The mix sounds a little busy at times even though there aren't a lot of instruments, I think it's the mixture of delays that does it, that said they are effective individually.
Production is pretty good, I would like to hear the guitar a little higher and brighter in the mix and the delayed synth stop delaying every once in a while, but that's just me.
Respect for the creativity and kudos for the miscellaneousness of the trk:)4/5

attemptedperfection responds:

Thanks for the review! I'll try to be more careful about mixing delays in the future. As for your review, I had meant that the whole song sounded like it could be used as background music because of the whole staying-in-one-place-ness which I can now attribute to your one riff/melody idea; I was specifying the second half with regards to the percussion being similar to one of your previous tracks. Hope that clears up what I meant. At any rate, thanks again for the review!

Bouncy Rhythm

This instantly has a nice rhythm to it.
The contrast of the live sounding beats and organ with the electronic reverbed bass filtered sounds work quite well and the trk feels quite organic, building nicely.
My main problem is that not much happens throughout the piece, but that said it would make ideal music for someone to add a vocal track to or as background music for flash.

Syntrus responds:

that was the idea thx man

Pumpity Pump!

I never knew you were a woman!:P

Oh no... another horrible terrible secret must be revealed... IM NOT >:(

Please do not ask from where he emerged... I can´t stand this...

hello....

Pia, Pia, Piano, Piano, Piano....
A rather nice piano actually, perhaps a little too much reverb, but it helps the atmosphere of the trk. Like where this is heading. The warping and lo-fi-ing towards the end is lovely and i was hoping for some nice beats to drop in too, definatley had room to do that I think.
Really nice and original piece:)

LJCoffee responds:

Thanks!

I know the reverb is a bit much but I was trying to cheat a little by adding it in order to smooth out the piano and make it sound slightly more realistic - without the reverb it sounded too synthetic - I guess I traded a synthetic piano for a lousy mix.
Oh well

:)

Pice!

a lovely slice of ambient style pie this is, yum. really nice blend of sounds that all work really well together, the lead synth sound might be a bit loud in the mix, i cant tell as i'm listening through some quite porr mac speakers at the mo though. i'd actually quite like to hear this piece without the drums at all, or perhaps some more glitched up electro beats.
Nice trk, a good listen.

might even work with vocals too.

ListenToMyMusic responds:

I redid this piece with some nice sounding acoustic drums, that sort of blend in. It sounds awesome in my opinion. I'll submit the revision at some point, whenever I complete it, I also added some more parts to the lead.

I'm writing this as I listen, so excuse me if i ramble. Great intro, sounds very BOCish. Quality use of panning and the sounds all sit really well together and are really well chosen/cretaed. I would like to hear the drums have more prominence in the mix and really break through the reverb, but then I imagine it might lose it's ambient vibe. The reverbed kicks work really well to add suspense. It gets a little muddled sounds-wise towards the end, a bit too much reverb on the sounds perhaps, they are fighting for space, ends quite abruptly, but i really like the style.
Really nice piece of music, I would maybe even try a version without the drums and extend it into a longer piece.
Good stuff man.

attemptedperfection responds:

yeah, I had some issues with the second half or so... couldn't quite get it right...
thanks for the review!
