Dig it

A lot of potential here. Regardless of the transition issues you have something here. Has a really good vibe. Brought to mind a Radiohead(ish) mood; style and rhythm. Really like it.

ty mate, sorry for my tardiness.

there's a nugget here, maybe. I'm currently working with some singers (yes plural lmao) so there's going to be some interesting work coming

Really like this. A lot of potential to make into a full piece. Nice spacious sound and enjoying hearing piano mixed with the synth and syn/strings. I would like to hear it keep building with more layers added, then everything drop out to just piano and a vocal line, then everything comes crashing back in for a big crescendo;)

The mid-section/bridge is my favourite part. Like the big kicks and fx. There are some nice subtle touches throughout that add a lot of atmosphere. Nice work.

CorruptModule responds:

Thanks, I'm glad you liked it. I had a good time making this track and I'm glad you noticed the little details. they're probably my favorite thing to do when making songs. that and playing the keyborad.

This is pretty interesting, some cool ideas and sounds, but painfully LOUD which makes it borderline unlistenable. Maybe don't push the mix that hard next time! If you turn it right down to a reasonable listening volume you notice that the mix isn't too bad, it just needs more attention to the mastering and production so that it doesn't just become one big squashed wall of noise. If your waveform looks like one big solid opaque chunk of audio then you know you're overdoing it.

Magibauble responds:

Should be fixed now. Sorry for blowing your ears out.

It’s nice enough. I think less time on technical stuff and more time on ideas is needed to develop things. As it stands for me it’s a middle of the road track, with weak sounding drums and guitars that are too prominent and lacking width, depth and fundamentally some “edge” to them. The phase fx and reverbs don’t improve the mix, rather they muddy the clarity. Soft sounding phasers (the phaser effect in general) are not to my taste. It dates the overall style/sound of the track. I would consider removing all the after fx and start clean and fresh. Work on a more engaging arrangement, perhaps pan the guitar tracks out a little wider, play with some distortion or lo-fi, beef up those drums and add a nice simple low octave meaty bass guitar line. Experiment more! The track rolls along nicely, has some solid riffs and potential, but I think it would take stepping outside of your comfort zone and being a little more sonically adventurous to really give it a proper boost.

Has potential, the elements are there, they just need fleshing-out and more attention to balancing of instrumentation and vocals when it comes to overall mixing. For me the vocals are too upfront, as are the drums. The guitars and synths are kinda lost. You also need to watch your recording levels. The track is clearly pushed too hard, just keep an eye on your waveforms. Better to bring everything down in volume and balance the mix first before pushing the levels too hard. I like the overall style and idea, just needs some polishing.

TheNGVirus responds:

thank you so much! if possible, could you help me mix the track properly, for the album version?

Really like this. Has a “Washed Out” vibe to it, but more heavy on the clean synthwave production style. Mix and arrangement are both very good.

Really enjoyed the ambience. The beat is good too, with the subtle lo-fi elements & fx, would prefer a meatier sounding kick though. What I would really be interested to hear is a beatless version that is extended, perhaps dropped down a few semi-tones in a sampler to slow it to a more soundscape/drone-like piece, then re-eq'ed to balance it out... Cool track nonetheless.

pitbulljones responds:

my bro.

KBD. What do i have that you already done? I try. I try hard. You have noted several times about removing beats and expanding. I mean, i can..........do you want me going back to 8 minute builds?

You're a contemporary of mine, we mine the same vein. You do it better than anyone.

The name threw me, I was expecting something different. This has mid 90's retro style Chilli Pepper's guitar sounds, circa "Tearjerker". Nice and clear and decent sounding reverb on the guitar. I like the wandering guitar/bass riff, which could be backed up with a deeper bass sound to flesh out and drive the track along more. I would like to hear more compression and thump on that kick drum and a bit more 'edge' to the track generally speaking. Some saturation to beef it up perhaps, a little more meat on dem bones. The horn/soft brass riff is really nice. Would like to hear more variation in the drums. I prefer my sounds a little rougher round the edges. Comes down to personal taste. Definitely something to work with overall though.

pitbulljones responds:

Yes kb,

Everything you say is bang on. There's something here but I need to really work at it. There's a lot i'm considering, I need vox, better guitar, additional drive, chorus. i'm going to sit this week and go again.
