EQ

A little more release on the piano and a little less fx/reverb might be nice i think, sounds a little muddy.
Needs more treble in the mix, i find it quite middle orientated through my phones. Love the holding note that pans, works really well. Again, I would like to hear the synth sound cut through the mix more.
I think the main issue with this trk is EQ, which is easily sorted if you still have it all as sepertate tracks. Could be due to the crappy filesize limitations on here though:)
Good soundtrack material.
Good stuff.

pitbulljones responds:

cheers KB, i think there may be a little too much bass on the piano i dunno. but i had to knock this down to 96kbps, which is never nice either.

does seem to be lackin in the high i agree, tho it feels a tad softer for it, ay be the instrument choice here not using a lot of high end instruments or sounds dunno, the monkey says i just do XD.

Yea everything is still seperate, all done in cubase as normal so i keep the project files. just in case.....

Cheers again man,

Atmos

intro very nice, dramatic with the deep reverb and strings.
All gets swallowed up in reverb a little, would like to hear the strings more 'cutting' and the synth delays really hit hard, then pan and fade. The bell sound panned right is nice, then the following sound panned left helps contrast nicely,.(maybe too far panned though, they sound a little distant)
Really atmospheric tune.
Simple but engrossing.

pitbulljones responds:

Thanks KB for the review. Yea as mentioned before the atmos was original going to introduce like a war/epic sound stage, but as usual things mutate, i did choose for the strings to be softer than normal but i understand where you're coming from, may just need a faster attack more than anythingon em.

Panning is always a problem with me, i use lil satellite speakers and im used to em but stereoimaging is a problem, need headphones and proper monitors, taken on board nonetheless.

thanks again KB

PM me when you have anything you'd like me to peruse.

Phatina

Kinda latina rhythms here. Good solid kick to the beat and nice spacious mix. Like the lo-fi filtering, nice touch. The progression is steady and purposeful. I like the choice of synths, but i have to say after the drop I was hoping for the beats to come back in a really manic style, all glitched and chopped up.
That would be my one critisism of this trk, not enough beat development. The sounds used and production is sound, but i always like to hear a bit of beat messing:)

beatmasterJAG responds:

Right on! I have been thinking about making another version of it, and I to am a fan of destructive beat progressions. I'll consider your critique! Thanks :]

Breathe With Me....

A really interesting and highly produced piece of music, i loved it up to the part when you decided to make it techno/house with that beat. THe scratch is a nice layer, but i find the layering of the foley sounds very predictable. You have produced a very big sound once this trk gets going, but it takes too long imo to give the listener anything, the scratch should be in from the start and everything should develop from there, just my opinion, and you know me, i know nothing:)
I love the fact you have gone to so much trouble with this trk, everything sounds great, big and beautifuly purposefull. You continue to surprise me, and i hope you'll consider producing an album for me someday:)

Glllllllitch

Glitch acid beginning, lovely hiss style glitch. Some really cool lo-fi sounds in there, me likey. Experimental, verging on the unlistenable, would love to hear this devleop into something, what, I don't know. Perhaps some crunchy guitar riff/loop would add to this, some nice sub bass as well?
I think It's crying out for a melody of some sort, something to develop it, maybe just a drum line in double time would serve the same purpose, who knows...
Good shit, always enjoyable.

LJCoffee responds:

Wellathankyou! I think the operative term in your review is "verging on the unlistenable" =)

I may break this into chunks, rip a few samples and loops from it and use those in another track. I was really really wanting to put vocals in this but I just couldn't find the inspiration to write anything decent. Everything that I came up with felt more like an afterthought than anything of substance... Oh well...

Always nice to hear from you - I value your opinion.

Later!

Nice Pad

like the record crackle, like the ambient pad progression and the constant thum pof the drum, shame the pads drop out, ad they were the best bit in my opinion, this could easily go on without the kick and be turned into a chilled 3-4 minute peice of ambience, that subtley evolves and grows.

Nice stuff, shame about the length.

RedHotPoker responds:

Thanks Bastard. I just thought that it would drag on a bit if i continued them but im glad you liked it.

Haunting

Soundtrack style minimal ambience from a scary chiller movie. Atmospheric, but not enough ideas throughout to keep me interested all the way through. That said, if it were put underneath a scary animation it would definately work very well.

RedHotPoker responds:

Thank you Mr Bastard. You are one of my musical heroes. I can only hope that somebody uses my music in an animation (except me) but oh well.

ethnic

when it shouldn't be.
good enough production-wise, but annoyingly repetetive

stringy.........

rather lovely piece you made here, has some nice emotion to it thanks to the use of the strings. Bad loop though, should've done more with it. Almost exorsist esque, but not as good as tubular bells:D You have created a very subtle piece of good music, that is ruined by it's lack of direction imo.
Talented, but indecisive

languid-phenomenon responds:

The final piece will be far from indecisive, for this is merely the beginning of the entire track. Im not going to post that however. When its done, (and if you ask nicely ;P) i will show you the whole thing.

Im trying to make money off of my music, so posting whole songs for people to download for free is just silly ^^

LP

glad you liked what little i had XD

lovely

really nice piece man, from the attacked synth to the melodic xylophone sound. Good use of panning too.
Not a fan of the phaser, so that sound doesnt do it for me, but it fits well enough. It's reminiscent of sigur ros, with a more electronic edge. The beats don't really live up to the rest of the trk for my ears, they could be developed a lot better. It's a nice tune man, worth a donwload:D 5'ed

pitbulljones responds:

yo kb, sorry for the long wait for a reply, bit of free time now being a bum again.

Yea i had time to burn on this track, took like 2 weeks off of work so really put my back into this. the xylophone sound is from rhino, crystal features on here too. it isnt actually a phaser on this track tis a good old flanger, bit of delay, overdrive and reversed. oh ta on the panning.

The drums were meant to be more of a supporting element of the tune rather than it's drive. haha another sigur ros compliment, wintang always says it. i can hear it, but i can't say im necessaryily influenced by them, you know what i mean, you just make what you make.

anyways cheers man.
