Congrats on the top 5:)

I really like this trk. The subtleness of it is what grabs me. It's very evocative and conjures up all sorts of moods and images in the mind. The swirling effect and attacked pads at the start setup the trk well for the transition into a nice simplistic, but futuristic glitchy/lo-fi beat to drop and give the trk the required flow. The melody/lead sound is still a bit high in the mix for my tastes, just a little harsh. I often think people expect tracks to be full of so much stuff now that they are constantly waiting or expecting something different from a trk instead of actually listening to the piece itself. I like the minimalist nature of this trk and I especially like the fact that at no one point does this song lose my interest. If you sit back in the dark with your headphones on and listen to this tune whilst watching some random visualisation the trk really comes into its own.
Great stuff Mr.Rucklo, I really enjoy listening to this trk and it's subtle evolving characteristics.
My only real problem with the trk is that it could actually go on longer and keep building, developing and changing. Often within Ambient music tracks are well over 5 minutes. I think it would be interesting to keep going with this trk and see if you can take it further. I'm thinking perhaps some more agressive breaks towards the end, the introduction of another bassline and perhaps some counter melodies to interact with the lead melody, who knows, just some suggestions:)

Wow, thats how a review should look like, good creative feedback there, mate!!!
Its very difficult to get an instrument sound right when u mess around with filters, eq must move around as well as the filter in some places, so it wont get too high. This i actually didnt do here, but i tried to keep the levels "ok" anyway. Maybe i should have gotten into it a lil more...
Anyway, this song is best listened to if you, like u say, actually concentrate on the song, and listen to what´s going on there. Its not an easy song to listen to, if you just hear it out, i think theres not much special about it, really. It´s kindof supposed to give the listener pictures, so its that kind of song, yeah.
I could make it longer, like u said, and make some more perhaps radical changes to it, but in that case, perhaps there might be parts that actually gets boring? Well, one needs to see the bad to appreciate the good tho...
Good suggestions though, ill take them with me in the creation of my next piece :D
Thanx alot for the essay, mate!!!

Quality

I love the sliced intro sound like old wartime radio frequencies. Cool bongo rhytmns and nice building of sounds. The beats are nice and chopped and work really well, I think maybe some extra pads added to this might give it a bit fuller sound, but it's not so important. I love the way this tune progresses, the middleish guitary sounds and panning is great.
Have you thought of maybe putting in some sliced effected vocals? might work really well.
Quality stuff.

LJCoffee responds:

Thanks! - I was working on vocals but left them out as I couldn't quite get them to sound the way I would've liked.

Pads might be good as well - If and when I get around to editing this I'll jam 'em all in there and see what happens.

btw - Thanks for listening!

Hmmm........

.......Crap song, shame, I was hoping it would be good. I'm from Basingstoke too, or as it's affectionatly known, Boringstoke.

AfroUnderscoreStud responds:

It's not supposed to be good, it's supposed to be funny, listen to the lyrics.

GREAT!

Now this trk contains a little bit of Oldlo and a little bit of Newlo. The intro boom made me jump whilst listening thru phones waiting for it to stream!:) I think the sounds are extremely Rucklo and very well chosen. They blend together well and the solidness of the compression and tweaking of them shines through like a big red baboons ass in the sun. I heard an earlier version of this and think you have made the vocoded sections sound sooo much better. They are less prominent and sit really well in the overall mix, complementing it, rather than distracting. I really dig this trk and can't believe I am the first to review it after it has been on here for a few days. I enjoy it from start to finish, the intro, the boomy kick drum with nice compression, the little bits of hiss and glitch, the nice sci-fi arp riff, the filtered bass and then the messed vocoder elements really round it off. The arrangement is simple and effective, keeping the listener interested throughout, the production is very impressive and the strangeness of the title and lyrics make me wanna listen. The people who download and don't review this are a bunch of selfish, lazy, candy-assed bastards. I give this 5/5, 10/10 and I only wish I could help promote this trk more for you.
Review it you damn monkeys!!!!!!!

Eclectic

Nice ambient intro to the trk, not sure how necessary the guitar riff was at the start tho, although it was good it would have worked better for me if it had continued and been elaborated on in certain sections, otherwise it sounds like it's there as an after-thought. The squelchy lead sound/riff is nice and retro, but i'm not sure if it works with the vibe of the trk or not in my ears. The 'live' drums could do with being a bit less reverbed, or perhaps just bringing them up in the mix volume-wise would give the track more punch. It all kicks along nicely, but I would like to have heard more made of the guitar riffs, the synth sounds brought down in the mix and some more variance in the drums.
After listening thru a few times, I think this trk is better suited without the guitar and the drums should be fully electro in my opinion, cos it doesn't seem to quite work as it is.

JonH2O responds:

The beginning guitar I added wasn't really necessary at all... I just kinda, yes, did it as an afterthought. It surly would have been nice to have it throughout the track.

Currently, I use Audacity to record me playing guitar and then I upload it as a sample in Reasons' NN-XT device. This is a pain in the ass and I havn't looked at an alternative.
Reverb was all that I added to the drum samples to create a 'live' sound. Less may sound better. What you would have liked to hear are all what I find wrong with this track also. The same drum beat through the ENTIRE song isn't that great.

I will continue to add guitar here and there as I did in this song, but only to a select few. Fully electro sounds like a great direction at the moment. I love chopped up drums.
Thanks for the review man.

Good Solid Track.

Instantly u can tell the production on this trk is solid. I would say that there might be too much reverb on one of the instruments, possibly the bassline, which is muddying up the mix a bit.
Nicely arranged, good dynamics and flow to the track. I think some female vocals added to this and you've probably got yourself a dancefloor filler. This genre of music has never been one I regularly listen to, but i dont mind listening to this trk, it has everything in the right place and is quite catchy.

I like it.

Really chilled out and relaxed vibe to this trk, up until that delayed synth guitar? sound comes in. I think You could do with changing that sound to something softer and more harmonic. there's definate potential to build this trk into a nice ambient soundscape, and I think it would be best kept to quite a minimalist arrangement with simple clicks and bleeps used for the beats.
You could try adding a nice low fequency basline to it as well to help give it a warm feel.
Nice start.

Slick.

Good quality production and simple but effective melodies. The transitions are tight and smooth, but i'm not sure how DnB this actually is. The beats could do with some work, perhaps try chopping them up a bit and adding some more variance. If you heavied them up with some ditortion and perhaps do the same to most sections of the trk it would start sounding abit more like DnB for me.
Good stuff/

Always-Dark responds:

OK i should've added this to the description, this was a collab. Me and a friend of mine did this together. He was the one that came up with the drums, i did the arp, bass, ..err, and some other stuff. w.e
