Smooth....8.5.....

....this tune is nice and mellow. I like the flanger sounds and the drums roll along nicely. Smooth chord progression, albeit a simple one. Thing I like the most is the almost Out of tune bassline which doesn't sound like it should fit, but it does! My only critisism is that not enough happens throughout the track, but I think it would work really well as a backing for a flash game. Nice stuff.

Lova-Gurl responds:

I know i tried puttin other stuff in it but it didn't sound right so it kinda sounds empty. But anyway thanks for the review!

Gentle.

Nice mellow and soothing song. Not much happens, but it doesn't really have to get the point across, chill!

Sweet.

Those are some awesome Big Beat drums! Like the weird chanting, mantra style monks in the background as well. Solid tune! Check out my new trk GhostTrain and see what u think.

Bosa responds:

This is what I've been working on for the past few days. Yes, I could say this is my best work. Thanks for the review. I'm forwarding to GhostTrain. Still more to come!

Your friend, ßosa

Nice Bassline....

Yo, hows tricks man? Well now, this is rock and it isn't! It a strange kinda techy-rock hybrid. I like the bass a lot, and the drums are good. It would be interesting to hear some vocals over the top of this tune. Check out my new tune GhostTrain, and gimme a good vote cos some bastard has already voted 0 on it. It doesn't deserve a 2.5, I think it's pretty good. This could be a whole new direction for you, the production is amazing and with some real guitar and vox thrown into the mix it would help give the tune a 'live' quality. Nice.

DJRunaway responds:

:D :) Hehe, I'll contact you on MSN, with vocals this could be cool :D
Thnx :)

I like it....

You've created a really nice dreamy feel with this tune and I like the chord changes a lot. The ambient sound fx in the background work really well and aid the whole atmosphere of the tune. I would really like to hear some vocals added to make this tune the finished product. Really good.

Needs work...

....some really nice elements in this tune, which is verging on the experimental/AphexTwin style of Hip-Hop, with those strange voices and stop-starts. The sounds used are nice and retro-lo-fi, but they really don't sound cool enough! I know that's an annoying thing to say, but for this type of tune u have to make it sound cooler and weirder than anything else that has passed before. Have a listen to some Prefuse73 stuff, as I think it will add direction to your tunes. I think it's great, and nice and experimental, it's just that i have heard so many things that are more comprehensive than this tune. It's good, but fuck with it more!

Mister-Twitch responds:

Thanks a lot, the audio reviews are beter than the portal reviews (go figure). I'm using Live on a tiny CPU so every time I have too many MIDI inputs. I'm working on it, don't fret.

Sweet as a nut...

....Love the traditional DnB bass/SquareLead sound, nice use of filters to bring the melodies into the forefront of the mix. Good layering of sounds and textures, but I feel that the drums don't live up to all the other elements of the tune, they are too straightforward and could do with an injection of a Squarepusher type sound. Experiment more with those drums, chop em up, reverse em, timestretch em, just play with them! All the right elements are in there, just fuck with those drums! Please send me a copy of the film that u are using Sadmachine in, or at least give me credit and point people in the right direction, I could do with some exposure! I'm interested to hear how and why u r using it!

AdmiralConquistador responds:

Hmm, those are some interesting ideas about the drums. You're right, I really didn't give the drums too much thought. About the movie, I'll gladly send you a copy! The running time we are aiming for is about 42 minutes, I'll see what I can do about compression to bring down the filesize, but if it gets to be too big, I'll happily ship you a copy of the dvd. Send me an email with whatever plan of action you'd like to take admiralconquistador@yahoo.com

Thanks for listening and reviewing!

yep...

...there's definately a BOC thing goin on here but it's a little to strightforward and repetetive for my liking. That's not to say that it isn't nicely chilled and ambient, but it could do with a lot more adding to it.
Check out my tune Sadmachine as I think u might like it. kB

CRISPY-D responds:

YES...boards of Canada was an inspriration to the tune...
i looped this after 8 measures just
for space reasons... the song actually
has five 8 measure parts. in the future... i may release it on NG but @ a shitty Killa bit rate. i'm glad u enjoyed it... and ill def. check out
Sadmachine.............peace and
fuck tha firth haters who choose to live in a shell of shitty glam!

It's nice....

....I'm not too keen on the sounds that you have used, but the arrangement and progression on this tune are really good. When the drums come in it adds another dimension to it, but again I'm not fond of the drum sound. This tune would benefit from different instruments and a bit more experimentation. I would like to hear it with the lyrics/vocals, as that may help the song stand out more. Why not do a remixed version and experiment with some fx.
Have a listen to my trk Sadmachine and see what u think, if u want leave a review. :)

CaedaFera responds:

Remixes aren't that hard with all of this music saved and held on my PC. I will think that over and I thank you for your response. I always enjoy feedback from my work and I will use it to my advantage.

It's good.

But I would much rather hear all the parts played with real instruments and the timng is far too rigid. But that's what u get when using those sorta programs. I just listened to the acooustic versionand that is far more my sorta thing. Shame that you played it so loud and close to the mic. Nice riff by the way.

LittleGymm responds:

Lol, thanks. Fruity Loops just give me something to do with the load of time I have on my hands, so I just remakes songs.
