It grew on me!...

....it's so subtle and atmospheric. It gradually builds really well and makes me wanna keep on listening to see what's coming next! It has a kinda BoardsOfCanada feel to it. If the bass was a little rounder and phatter and there was a few more melodies flitting in and out of the tune it would've got my 10. Still I give u 5/5 cos it's good to hear experimental tunes like this. I'm downloading this right now! Good shit.

porksoda responds:

thanks very kindly for the review.
i'm glad you got a kick out of it.
it's a pretty relaxed and subtle tune that takes a while to kick in. thanks for listening to it long enough to enjoy it :)

Unexpected!

I know the title seems pretty self-explanitory, but I was expecting something completely different! I thought this would be a slow and typical example of the eygptian theme, but instead I got a funky, weird and quirky tune circulating around my head!!! It's cool.

speile responds:

I have made a "traditional" eqyptain style thing as well, but well, i dont like it, so it would be a miracle if anyone else did... anyway, the idea behind this was a minimalism project i did for my music gcse, well, im updating, it and i may put it in the audio portal

Yes!!!

Now this is what i'm talkin bout!!!:) Phat-ass drums nice melodies and SFX, superb breakdowns and building of tension, excellent production and arrangement. Nuff said! More of the same please. In my opinion, your best tune so far.

DJRunaway responds:

OMFG! The weekly 1st winner likes my stuff!!! *Blushes* Wow...If I wasn't hyperactive I'd be speechless now! W00T :) I'll keep experimenting with DnB!

Nice Breaks

Those are some thudding drums man! It's a shame u didn't go on to add a bassline and melodies to this trk. The organ sound that comes in towards the end is the perfect instrument/sound for a Squarepusher style bassline. I would like to hear this made into a full-on tune. Check out my latest submission AmusementArcade(bastardVer0.1) and c what u think, it's got a long intro but I reckon it's worth the wait! Nice stuff man.

SidSinister responds:

Thanks for the Input! I was planning on making it longer but just had no reason to. I'll definately give your song a listen.

Trippy.

This tune just gets better and better as it builds, with the ghostly modulated sounds and those nicely delayed sinewave bells and the vibe sounds. A nice unique blend of sound fx and ambient pads. The drums are just right to help the tune kick along. The only thing I dont really like is the bassline, which I think could have been slightly more progressive. Good shit man.

Smooth as a baby's behind!

A nicely written tune that sounds like an Ending Theme to a video game to me. Really smooth chord changes and faultless arrangement. Musically it's not my sort of thing, but it's ideal for any Flash animation makers to use for Backing music, ending themes etc...Nice stuff. Check out my new tune AmusementArcade(bastardVer0.1) and c what u think. I u fancy, leave a review. Peace.

afliXion responds:

An ending theme, really? Hm... Not really what I had in mind when I wrote it, but it kinda works for that doesn't it. And sure I'll check out your song too. :D

Very Dreamy....

...It could almost be an R&B trk if some female vocals were added. I like all the sounds/instruments used except the bass noise. It doesn't seem to fit the atmos of the tune and isn't soft and mellow like the rest. The clarity is superb and u have created a really nice and smooth atmosphere with this track. Nice stuff.

Cool!

I like everthing about this track. All the sounds used are quirky but cool and the arrangement is excellent. My only small problem is with the drums. They don't sounds as sharp/phat as they could/should be. A bit of compression put onto the high end might make them jump out more I reckon, that would definately elevate this song to a 10 in my ears! Great stuff.

AdmiralConquistador responds:

You know what, I went back to the song and added very light distortion and compression on the high end and lo and behold, it sounds badass. Thanks for the advice, I'll be sure to try it out on my future songs as well to see how it sounds. Thanks for enjoying the song, after the disapointment to you with Sweeter than Candy, I felt I had to regain my honor with you! Hahah, no but really I'm glad you liked it, and thanks alot for the review. I'll be trying to work on that Live DNB for ya, hehe.

groovy.

The start of this tune reminds me of early AphexTwin, but then it goes on to become a more Trancey affair with the classic big kick. I think what this trk lacks is a real bouncy bassline to make it jump out of the speakers at ya. All the parts are there, just try to come up with a killer bassline and it would get my 10.

Rucklo responds:

Looking for that bassline. Where tha hell did I put it??? gaaaaah!!!!! Well, I´ll just have to settle for ur nine then. grmbflgh....
thx 4 ur time :D

Love those beats.

I dig those beats, but I could take or leave the Organ. The compression on those beats really gives them a nice crisp and punchy edge, I just wish You'd kept the arrangement of the rhytmns and melodies a little more sparse, and perhaps made this into a more ambient tune. Greta stuff again, and I will keep my eye out for any more submissions from u.
